I chose to convert to law after my undergraduate in business administration during which I studied the fundamentals of law. I then undertook an internship to for tasters and liked it . I chose law because this is one way, I believe I can help people. As a child, my parents and I volunteered and still volunteer with an NGO to help provide basic life improvement skills and resources however for me this was/is not enough. I believe being able to help people understand their basic rights and having the legal complexities explained simply will help them make better life negotiations and decisions which are required in order to gain access to any decent sort of living.

Sharon Bratton

My name is Sharon Bratton, I obtained my LLB Law (Hons) at Sussex University in 2019. I am currently studying the LPC LLM part-time (weekends) at the University of Law in Guildford. I work full time as a property paralegal in a well-known law firm. My interest in law began when I became a union rep for a supermarket and I quickly noticed inequalities between staff and management. I never had an urge to study or practise law until a family matter came to light and we needed to instruct a solicitor. Unfortunately, our issue couldn’t be rectified and paying for a solicitor was impossible. It was then, I decided to study and practise law. The areas of law that I am passionate about is Family law and Employment law. Both these areas have seen dramatic cuts that were introduced by LASPO 2012 and this has meant many individuals struggle gaining access to justice.
